Guidepost Montessori is seeking a Relief Teacher for Nest Preschool (Singapore). The role supports classrooms in the absence of the regular Guide, ensuring continuity of care and a high-quality Montessori setting.

The position involves supervising children, maintaining routines, and collaborating with Guides to uphold standards of safety and learning. Fluency in English or Mandarin is required.

Qualifications

• CIT / HCIC / ACEY or equivalent in infant/toddler care.
• Registered with ECDA and valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Fluent in English or Mandarin, native preferred depending on role.
• Experience with children aged 6 months to 6 years.
• Passion for Montessori education with growth mindset; teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide close supervision to children, ensuring safety and ECDA ratio compliance.
• Interact with children in a warm, respectful way to foster independence.
• Maintain a clean, safe Montessori-prepared environment and prepare daily activities.
• Observe children and share relevant observations with the Lead Guide.
• Communicate notable issues to Classroom Guide or Head of School.

Role Summary

The Relief Teacher steps in to support the classroom team in the absence of the regular Guide. This role ensures continuity of care, supervision, and a high-quality Montessori environment. The Relief Teacher works closely with Classroom Guides and Assistant Guides to maintain routines, safety, and positive child interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support & Child Supervision

• Provide close supervision to children, ensuring safety and compliance with ECDA teacher-child ratio requirements
• Interact with children in a warm, joyful, respectful manner that fosters independence
• Assist in maintaining a meticulously clean, orderly, and safe Montessori-prepared environment
• Perform prep-work to ensure the classroom is ready for students daily
• Observe children and share relevant observations with the Lead Guide
• Redirect children as necessary to protect presentations and peers’ concentration
• Follow daily routines including mealtimes, toileting/diapering, and naptime with dignity and respect

Communication & Team Collaboration

• Ensure interactions with the team about routine issues or anecdotes from the child’s day are positive and upbeat
• Communicate any significant student issues or parent concerns to the Classroom Guide or Head of School

Qualifications

• Certificate in Infant and Toddler Care and Development (CIT) / Higher Certificate in Infant Care (HCIC) / Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY) or equivalent
• Registered with ECDA and hold a valid first aid certificate (or willing to obtain)
• Native or fluent proficiency in English or Mandarin (depending on which language role the relief teacher is covering)
• Experience working with children aged 6 months – 6 years
• Passion for or desire to learn the Montessori method of education
• Growth mindset and problem-solving approach
• Able to work as part of a team, sharing skills, resources, and equipment with other staff members
