Job description

As a Geotechnical Commercial Lead, you will drive strategic commercial outcomes by leading a team of proposal development professionals, aligning sales objectives with budget plans, and embedding commercial excellence across the service line. You’ll collaborate closely with the Service Line Director (SLD), Commercial Manager, and regional sales and marketing teams to build a strong sales pipeline and deliver winning proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal strategy meetings
  • Provide strategic overviews to support bid/no-bid decisions
  • Review tender requirements and define deliverables
  • Coordinate risk assessments and technical reviews with clients and subcontractors
  • Ensure timely availability of equipment and resources
  • Raise clarifications to mitigate commercial risk
  • Oversee live commercial packages and ensure compliance with project schedules
  • Promote standardized workflows and ensure BMS compliance
  • Participate in high-value contract discussions and internal bid approvals
  • Analyze market competitiveness of the service line
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Lead client engagement and presentations
  • Collaborate with commercial leads to grow revenue and backlog
  • Maintain the Lead-to-Cash (L2C) sales funnel and CRM (Avalon)
  • Support regional forecasting and market reviews
  • Ensure CRM data is current and supports revenue planning via Power BI
  • Champion EBIT targets and pricing strategies aligned with global frameworks
  • Lead performance reviews, succession planning, and staff development
  • Apply lessons learned to improve commercial models and reduce leakages

Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
    • 10–12 years of experience in a similar commercial or technical role
    • Intermediate-level experience in commercial management and team leadership
    • Ability to develop value-driven, compliant, and competitive tenders
    • Decision-Making & Prioritization: Sound judgment and ability to set clear priorities
    • Performance Management: Ability to set goals, manage teams, and drive results
    • Client Focus: Strong client engagement and relationship-building skills
