Job Descriptions

  • Guide sub-contractors on carrying out additional ground investigation to provide additional information of the construction site.
  • Identify section to be sampled; Schedule and oversee laboratory testing for the samples obtained, for better understanding the rock/soil composition and its impact on subsequent construction.
  • Provide inputs to the Engineering & Design department for preparation of drawings/design in line with the geological conditions of the construction site.
  • Inspect the rock conditions underground for joints, wedges, seepages, etc. and the consequent impact on stability of the walls, roof and floor.
  • Oversee the grouting process carried out by the construction team; Report any issues and advise on appropriate corrective measures.
  • Inspect support structures installed and other safety precautions taken by the construction team; Report the status of the same for supervisor’s approval on proceeding with underground works.
  • Advise the design team on specifications such as material to be used, concrete thickness, etc. based on the ground model and construction design/drawings.
  • Provide inputs to the design team on alternative construction technology/equipment for addressing ground conditions, additional underground obstructions, etc.
  • Monitor adherence to appropriate risk mitigation techniques and compliance with relevant governmental regulations during construction; Escalate any issues to supervisor for subsequent action planning & corrective action.
  • Coordinate with external SMEs on use of various geotechnical technology, etc. for collecting additional data on the ground conditions, composition, etc. from time to time, as construction progresses.
  • Review and update the ground model based on such new information; Advise the construction team on the updated ground model and ways of fine-tuning the subsequent construction plan in line with the same.
  • Monitor geological instrumentation on an on-going basis to check for undesirable changes such as ground movements, fall/rise in the ground water table etc.; Recommend corrective actions to address the same.
