Job description

  • Interview patients to get comprehensive individual family and medical histories

  • Evaluate genetic information to identify patients or families at risk for specific genetic disorders

  • Write detailed consultation reports to provide information on complex genetic concepts for patients or referring physicians

  • Discuss testing options and the associated risks, benefits, and limitations with patients, families, and other healthcare providers

  • Counsel patients and family members by providing information, education, or reassurance regarding genetic risks and inherited conditions

  • Participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in genetics and genomics.

  • Maintain and upkeep Database and involved in developing patient education information brochures.

  • Develop social media publicity materials on a monthly basis

  • Provide support in organizing Genetic Symposium when required to.

  • Assist Genetic Counsellors with the planning and organisation of education and training

  • Promote genetics service awareness to other private healthcare professionals

Requirement

  • Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling (or equivalent).

  • At least 3-4 years’ relevant clinical experience with demonstrated competency in genetic counselling.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with experience in MS office, databases, presentations and pedigree drawing software.

  • Analyticaland with good communication skills (written & spoken)

  • Has initiative and able to work independently

  • Positive, motivated and able to perform under pressure
