Summary of the Position

The General Manager – Vertical product is responsible for leading business development and operational excellence within the assigned vertical. This role focuses on driving strategic growth, expanding market presence, and building strong, long-term client relationships. The General Manager oversees vertical-specific commercial performance, tender participation, cross-functional coordination, and market intelligence to ensure sustained competitiveness and profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vertical Growth

  • Develop and execute the vertical market strategy in alignment with global business objectives.
  • Identify new market opportunities, industry trends, and regulatory shifts to enhance the company’s market position.
  • Drive tailored solutions and value propositions that cater to the unique challenges and demands of clients within the vertical.

Client & Account Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders to reinforce the company’s role as a preferred partner.
  • Provide strategic direction and support to address clients' logistics and supply chain requirements.
  • Oversee high-level negotiations and business agreements to secure long-term, profitable partnerships.
  • Actively engage senior client executives to solidify executive-level alignment and trust.

Business Development & Sales Enablement

  • Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities to grow revenue and market share within the vertical.
  • Guide the sales team through the full lifecycle – from lead qualification and solutioning to proposal and closure.
  • Enhance revenue through cross-selling and upselling initiatives across existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with key internal teams (Operations, Solutions Design, Finance, and Marketing) to deliver integrated and customer-centric solutions.

Market Intelligence & Analysis

  • Monitor competitive landscape and provide insights on market developments, customer needs, and potential risks.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable strategies to reinforce competitive advantage.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on business performance and pipeline development for internal review and strategy refinement.

Tender & Bid Management

  • Oversee tender participation for global and regional key accounts, ensuring alignment with internal processes and client expectations.
  • Ensure smooth handover of tender opportunities to the tender team with full customer context and requirements.
  • Support the development of winning value propositions and presentations for major bids.
  • Drive compliance with global tender protocols and contribute to the successful closing of strategic contracts.

Performance & KPI Management

  • Deliver on revenue, profitability, and growth targets for the vertical.
  • Demonstrate improvements in client satisfaction, account retention, and service excellence.
  • Track and manage a robust pipeline of business opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to overall business performance through effective leadership, planning, and execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation, including at least 5–7 years in a senior leadership role managing vertical product or regional business units.
  • Proven leadership in driving P&L performance, strategic business development, and managing large, complex client portfolios at a regional or global level.
  • Deep expertise in end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations, including multimodal freight, contract logistics, distribution, and integrated solutions.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Outstanding executive-level communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional, multicultural teams, including matrixed environments.
  • High level of independence, accountability, and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic global business landscape.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support global clients, teams, and strategic initiatives.
