Job summary

A leading sports academy in Singapore is seeking a candidate to lead and manage Under-19 sports teams, ensuring a high-performance training environment. The role requires a minimum of 3 years in sports administration, strong collaboration skills, and a degree in Sports Management or related fields. The successful candidate will engage with national stakeholders and support the development of youth athletes, particularly in basketball.

Job description
Overview

Lead and manage the men and women Under-19 teams. Responsible for the operational, developmental, and strategic planning of the programme, supporting student-athletes’ holistic growth and ensuring the delivery of a high-performance training environment in alignment with school and national objectives. You will report to Programme Director and partner Head Coach, Under-19 National Youth Development Programme (U-19 NYDP).

Key Responsibilities
  1. 1. Support Programme Director and Head Coach in Strategic Planning & Programme Leadership
    • Ensure the leadership and direction for the NYDP in alignment with the school\'s mission and sporting priorities.
    • Develop, implement, and regularly review the NYDP workplan and initiatives with input from the Head Coach and Programme Director.
    • Promote a positive and professional academy culture grounded in character, discipline, and excellence.
  2. 2. Operations & Resource Management
    • Oversee planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for training, competition, and athlete services.
    • Ensure a conducive Daily Training Environment, including scheduling, equipment, and facility readiness.
    • Manage athlete registration, performance tracking, travel logistics, and competition arrangements.
    • Maintain accurate data and documentation on student-athletes’ attendance, performance, health, and progress.
  3. 3. Talent Pathway Development
    • Support the Head Coach in talent identification and recruitment strategies across schools, clubs, and national trials.
    • Coordinate outreach and selection events to attract high-potential youth athletes.
    • Monitor transition readiness of athletes for national team integration and work closely with national selectors.
  4. 4. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the liaison to national stakeholders including Basketball Association of Singapore, ActiveSG, HPSI and MOE.
    • Build strong relationships with parents, club coaches, and community partners to support student-athlete development.
    • Facilitate collaboration with HPSI and other institutions for sport science, research, and innovation projects.
  5. 5. Programme & Event Coordination
    • Support the organisation of NYDP initiatives, e.g. Learn-To-Play, community clinics, talent ID camps.
    • Oversee participation in local and international tournaments, including registration, budgeting, and logistics.
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of school-wide sporting events and strategic projects.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sports administration or working with student-athletes.
  • Passion in sports, and interest or prior experience in basketball.
  • Commitment to values inculcation and character development in youth athletes.
  • Good communication, writing and organisational skills.
  • Strong collaborative and networking skills in working with colleagues and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Degree or relevant professional qualification in Sports Management, Sports Science or Physical Education is preferred, including relevant professional experience in related sports.
