Job description

The General Manager leads the overall operations of SBSA and is responsible for ensuring compliance with governing bodies, implementing strategic initiatives, and maintaining the association’s reputation and effectiveness. This position works closely with the Board of Council Members and oversees all major projects across high performance, developmental, and event management areas.

The GM also ensures the smooth functioning of the HQ by establishing and executing necessary Policies and SOPs.


Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of SBSA’s long-term strategy and Multiyear Sports Plan, ensuring alignment with national sports objectives.
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for SBSA, setting the vision and long-term goals for High Performance (HPE), Pathway Development, and HQ operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between SBSA and key external stakeholders, including SportSG, SSI, SNOC, and other governing bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with all SportSG regulations, including financial operations, audits, and Charities guidelines.
  • Oversee the association's financial health, including budget management, sponsorship acquisition, and funding compliance.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of HQ by developing, implementing, and overseeing Policies and SOPs, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Manage financial, administrative, and operational workflows to ensure departmental efficiency.
  • Supervise the Manager and Admin Executive, providing resources and support for effective performance.
  • Foster a collaborative environment aligned with SBSA’s goals.
  • Lead strategic planning and resource allocation for elite and developmental programs.
  • Manage organizational processes, financial structures, and compliance measures, with periodic reviews.
  • Make decisions on operational issues like event management, financial planning, and regulatory compliance.

2. HQ Management

  • Develop, implement, and review Policies and SOPs for HQ operations.
  • Monitor adherence to these policies and identify areas for improvement.

3. High Performance

  • Oversee all high-performance programs, ensuring team standards are met.
  • Support coaches and staff with best practices and performance monitoring.
  • Report on team performance and program outcomes to the Board.

4. Pathway Development

  • Implement youth academies and learn-to-play programs aligned with LTAD models.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for program success, including funding and sponsorship.

5. Event Management

  • Supervise planning and execution of SBSA events.
  • Ensure events are promoted and executed effectively to boost engagement and visibility.

6. Finance and Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

  • Complete and submit reports to SportSG/SSI timely and accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with financial and operational regulations.
  • Manage budgeting and financial tracking with the Finance Lead.

7. Facilities

  • Oversee maintenance strategies for facilities, ensuring safety and standards.
  • Allocate resources and liaise with vendors for maintenance services.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Manager and Admin on facility management and upgrades.

8. Capability and Coach Development

  • Lead officiating and volunteer programs, ensuring resource allocation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align initiatives with standards.
  • Oversee partnerships and monitor program effectiveness.

9. Fundraising

  • Lead sponsorship and fundraising strategies.
  • Engage with partners and donors for funding opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with sponsors and funding agencies.
