We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to spearhead the development and management of our container feeder shipping services across Southeast Asia, with strong emphasis on the Indonesia market. The ideal candidate will hold full P&L accountability and drive trade development, operational excellence, and commercial growth.
This leader role demands in-depth knowledge of the regional shipping landscape, container logistics, and regulatory requirements, along with well-established network within the maritime and port sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute business strategies to establish and expand container feeder services across key Southeast Asian routes, particularly within Indonesia.
Identify and capitalize on trade lane opportunities, new port calls, and regional cargo flows.
Represent the company in high-level negotiations with port authorities, regulators, shipping lines, and strategic partners.
P&L and Financial Oversight
Full accountability for the business unit’s profit and loss performance.
Drive revenue growth while ensuring cost efficiency in operations, fleet management, and logistics.
Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
Commercial Development
Identify and onboard key clients including mainline operators (MLOs), NVOCCs, freight forwarders, and exporters/importers.
Drive marketing and sales strategies tailored to the Southeast Asian container trade.
Monitor competitive landscape and adjust pricing and service strategies accordingly.
Operational Management
Oversee the operational execution of feeder services, including vessel deployment, scheduling, and terminal coordination.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and maritime regulations.
Work closely with port operators, agents, and vendors to maintain high service reliability and turnaround efficiency.
Team Leadership
Build and lead a high-performing commercial and operations team.
Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
Minimum 10 years of experience in the container shipping industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Proven experience with regional feeder networks, particularly within Indonesia and wider Southeast Asia.
Strong P&L and business development track record.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Fluency in English; Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is a strong advantage.
