Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Project Engineer to drive hands-on execution, testing, configuration, and certification of Gas Chromatograph systems. You will collaborate with Global R&D and Application Engineering to deliver high-quality projects, from FAT through final testing and delivery, while supporting IECEx/ATEX/CSA certification and documentation.

Qualifications

• A degree in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years in industrial instrumentation, automation, process control, manufacturing engineering, system integration, testing, commissioning or related engineering.
• Exposure to industrial communication protocols, hazardous area concepts, analyzer systems, automation systems or equipment testing activities.
• Experience or interest in software configuration, programming, troubleshooting, SQL, Visual Basic, Visual Studio, AutoCAD, or process analyzer technologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a global organization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for Gas Chromatograph systems, verifying hardware, wiring, communication interfaces, and overall system functionality before customer delivery.
• Configure and program GC systems by developing and modifying MaxBasic programs, implementing communication features, and supporting troubleshooting during testing activities.
• Collaborate with Global R&D, Application Engineering, Assembly, and Runout teams to resolve technical issues, meet project milestones, and ensure successful project execution.
• Support certification and compliance activities, including IECEx, ATEX, and CSA requirements, while maintaining technical documentation and participating in audit activities.
• Drive engineering quality and continuous improvement by supporting engineering tools, maintaining accurate project documentation, and contributing to efficiency and standardization initiatives.
