Job summary: The Functional Design Leads support distinct workstreams within a broader transformation program. The role will be responsible for leading the functional design and delivery of specific business capabilities, serving as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams. The ideal candidates will bring strong domain knowledge in Container Shipping industry, cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience translating business processes into practical, well-documented solution designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Functional Design Leadership

  • Lead functional workshops with business stakeholders to define and validate requirements specific to the assigned workstream (e.g., Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, HR).
  • Develop and maintain functional design documentation, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and program goals.
  • Collaborate with process owners to evaluate options and support informed design decisions.

Cross-Module and System Integration

  • Identify integration points with related systems or modules and work with relevant teams to ensure alignment.
  • Monitor dependencies across workstreams and contribute to resolving integration issues or design conflicts.

Testing Preparation and Support

  • Define functional testing strategies and contribute to test planning activities, including the development of test scenarios and data preparation.
  • Support execution and issue resolution during System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring traceability to requirements.

Business Engagement and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as a central point of contact for business stakeholders within the workstream, ensuring consistent engagement and alignment.
  • Facilitate communication between business and IT, providing clarity on functional requirements and solution implications.

Implementation and Change Support

  • Coordinate with delivery teams and vendors to support implementation milestones.
  • Contribute to user training, go-live planning, and post-deployment support, including participation in hyper-care and stabilization activities.

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer

  • Ensure that all functional designs, process flows, and configuration guides are thoroughly documented.
  • Support structured handover to operations and support teams following implementation.

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in container shipping processes. At least 1 year in a leadership or coordination capacity, involving team or stakeholder management.
  • Solid understanding of container shipping business processes, with a proactive mindset toward challenging existing practices and driving process automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Proven experience in leading or supporting key project activities including requirements gathering, solution design, test planning, and roll-out support.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders, including Trade, Equipment, Logistics, Operations, and Finance, as well as external vendors or system integrators.
  • A transformation-oriented mindset with the ability to guide teams through change, support adoption of new processes, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
