Job summary

Activate Interactive Pte Ltd is seeking a highly capable software engineer to join the MOE DXD AI initiative in Singapore. You will design, build, and operate production AI applications across TypeScript, NestJS, React, Postgres, and AWS, with emphasis on reliability and security.

You will integrate LLM and multimodal APIs, develop evaluation pipelines, and improve observability while collaborating with product, data science, governance, GovTech Central, and MOE stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals: design, testing, debugging, CI/CD, observability.
• Experience building production-grade full-stack applications and services.
• Hands-on experience with LLM application development.
• Understanding of AI system quality: evals, regression tests, monitoring, and human review.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production AI applications across MOE.
• Write high-quality full-stack software across TypeScript, NestJS, React, Postgres, and AWS.
• Integrate LLM and multimodal APIs in production, including prompting, tool calling, streaming, voice interaction, retrieval, and memory patterns.
• Build evaluation pipelines for AI quality, safety, regression testing, and human review.
• Improve observability across AI products, including traces, logs, metrics, user feedback loops, and model behaviour monitoring.
• Build and harden prototypes of emerging AI capabilities into maintainable product or platform components.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, governance colleagues, GovTech Central, and MOE stakeholders.

MOE DXD builds AI products and platform capabilities for Singapore's Ministry of Education. Our portfolio includes LangBuddy (a voice-first Mother Tongue learning assistant), Markly (an AI feedback tool for teachers), AI-enabled procurement workflows, and the shared platform foundations that make AI systems observable, evaluable, and safe to scale.

What the officer will be working on:

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production AI applications across MOE
• Write high-quality full-stack software across TypeScript, NestJS, React, Postgres, and AWS

What are we looking for?

• Strong software engineering fundamentals: system design, testing, debugging, CI/CD, observability, security, and maintainable code
• Demonstrated ability to build production-grade full-stack applications and services
• Hands-on experience (or strong working knowledge) of LLM application developmen
• Clear thinking about AI system quality: evals, regression tests, failure modes, monitoring, and human revie
• Ability to communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with TypeScript, NestJS, React, Vite, Postgres, AWS, Langfuse, or OpenTelemetry
• Experience integrating AI services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or other LLM/multimodal API
• Experience with RAG, tool calling, agentic workflows, voice interfaces, or AI evaluation frameworks
• Familiarity with education, public-sector systems, or high-trust digital services
