Job summary

Amaris Consulting in Singapore is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain production-grade fullstack applications using Java and modern web technologies.

You will craft robust backend services with Java/Spring Boot, design RESTful APIs, and ensure scalable relational data models. Collaboration with frontend, QA, PMs, and infra teams is essential, with ownership from development through deployment and support.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong Java and OOP fundamentals.
• Hands-on Spring Boot expertise.
• RESTful API design and consumption.
• Relational database design and query optimization.
• Experience with at least one frontend framework (React/Angular/Vue).
• Experience deploying on Apache Tomcat.

Job description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade fullstack applications using Java and modern web technologies.
• Develop robust and scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs for enterprise applications and system integration.
• Design and optimize relational databases, including SQL queries, table relationships, indexing, and data structures.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend services, APIs, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Deploy, configure, and support applications running on Apache Tomcat.
• Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, QA, Project Managers, Infrastructure teams, and other developers throughout the SDLC.
• Use Git and established development practices to maintain code quality, version control, and collaboration.
• Take ownership of technical delivery from development through deployment and production support.
• Contribute to technical documentation, development standards, and knowledge sharing within the team.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in Software Engineering, Fullstack Development, Java Development, or a similar role.
• Strong programming skills in Java, with solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, including SQL, table relationships, indexing, and query optimization.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications on Apache Tomcat.
• Proficiency with IntelliJ IDEA or a similar Java development environment.
• Strong knowledge of Git / version control systems.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, debugging, and deployment processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience working on enterprise-scale applications.
• Previous experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or regulatory environments.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or DevOps practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of application security and secure API development.
• Experience with automated testing and code quality tools.
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Experience mentoring junior developers or taking technical ownership of development initiatives.
