Job description

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for a Practice-Track faculty position. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering high‑quality education, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum innovation. Appointment will be at the level of Professor (Practice) and will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and professional standing.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, with a strong emphasis on practice‑oriented and industry‑relevant education.
• Lead and contribute to curriculum development, including the design of innovative pedagogical approaches and experiential learning initiatives.
• Foster strong linkages with industry, including developing collaborations, facilitating internships, and supporting industry‑sponsored projects.
• Contribute to applied research, translational activities, and collaborative projects with industry and research partners, including participation in externally funded initiatives where appropriate.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including those involved in industry‑linked projects.
• Contribute to departmental, university, and professional service, including outreach and engagement activities.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related discipline from a reputable university.
• Substantial experience in teaching and research.
• Demonstrated record of academic and/or research leadership within the professional community.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop early‑career researchers and/or doctoral students.
• Experience in leading or contributing to cross‑disciplinary research initiatives and collaborations.
• Strong understanding of the priorities, frameworks, and strategies of major research funding bodies.
• Established an international network with leading academic, industrial, and research organisations.
