Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems. The FDEs own discovery, scoping, system design, build, and production rollout for frontier models in production, collaborating with customer engineering and domain teams.

This role is based in Singapore with a hybrid model (3 days in office) and relocation assistance. 50% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience that includes customer-facing work.
• Experience writing production-grade code in Python, JavaScript, or equivalent stacks.
• Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product teams, and customer stakeholders.
• Role based in Singapore; relocation assistance offered and hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across deployments from prototype to production.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value and learnings.
• Embed with customer teams to understand needs and guide adoption.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early.
• Balance scope, speed, and quality; adjust plans to protect delivery.
• Contribute code when progress depends on it; codify patterns and playbooks.
• Share field feedback to help research and product improve models.
• Maintain clarity and momentum across teams.
