MSI Global Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to lead the development and maintenance of AFC equipment for public transport, including bus and rail fare devices. The role covers requirements gathering, design, implementation and testing in Windows/QNX/Unix/Linux environments.

You will work on web-app elements with Java/Spring, JDBC/SQL interfaces, and contribute to incident management, ITIL processes, and data analytics to improve device performance and deployments

Formación

• Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years embedded software development experience.
• Experience with Java, Spring, JDBC/SQL in Windows/QNX/Unix/Linux.
• OO design and UML modeling experience.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience in Incident Management and ITIL processes.
• Ability to perform trend analysis and support product teams.
• Ability to monitor and respond to incidents from stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Team player with good communication in English.
• Data analytics and visualization skills are a plus.
• Cloud certifications or AWS/Azure/GCP experience desirable.
• DevOps practices incl. CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and cloud-native pipelines.
• Cloud governance understanding is a plus.
• Familiarity with JSON, Angular, JSP, Javascript, HTML is beneficial.

Job Summary

Working with leading edge Contactless Smart Card technology, your key challenge is to spearhead the evolution of Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) equipment. Your job includes requirements gathering, design and development of multiple public transport e-payment devices. Typical devices include bus fare collection devices and rail fare collection gates. You need to investigate reported issues and improve both individual AFC device software and overall AFC system. Additionally, you need to support AFC software roll out and deployment in the production environment. You should be good in the analysis of problem and skillful in resolving issues pertaining to system or software.

Job Responsibilities

• Software development and maintenance including requirement collection, issue identification, issue investigation, software design, implementation and test for bus & rail fare collection devices

• Production fare system software maintenance, deployment & support

• Continuously improve the AFC device software system through predictive analytics

Job Requirements

• Recognized Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering/Computer Science or a relevant discipline

• At least 5 years' experience in embedded software development and support with good working knowledge in object-oriented software development using C/C++/Java in Windows, QNX, Unix or Linux platform

• Experience in software development involving web application development in Java, using Spring framework and interfacing with database using JDBC and SQL

• Object-oriented software design and UML modeling

• Good knowledge in Windows Server and proficient scripting skill in PowerShell is highly desirable

• Experience in Incident Management and ITIL process

• Conduct trend analysis and provide appropriate support and input to product teams

• Aggressively monitor and respond to incidents generated by stakeholders

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Resourceful and self-motivated team player

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English

• Data Analytics and Data Visualization skills will be an added advantage

• Cloud Certifications & Experience: Certifications from major cloud providers (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) and/or demonstrated expertise in AWS Cloud services, including EC2, is highly desirable

• DevOps Integration: Familiarity with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native pipelines

• Cloud Governance: Understanding of cloud policies and governance, cost management tools, and usage monitoring

• Added advantage if candidate is familiar with one or more of the following technologies:
