Job summary

Anglo American’s Shipping Financial Trading team maximises the value of the shipping portfolio through disciplined freight risk management, proprietary FFA trading and market analysis. The trader translates market views into hedging recommendations and executes trades within governance frameworks.

The role requires strong analytical judgement, knowledge of FFAs, and the ability to work with physical shipping teams, risk, and commercial stakeholders to deliver value and manage risk.

Qualifications

• Degree in commerce, business, finance or related field.
• At least 5 years' experience in financial trading or related role.
• Strong relationships with trading counterparties and freight market stakeholders.
• General expertise in other global commodities and their drivers.
• Proven ability to work with stakeholders across an organisation.

Responsibilities

• Market analysis and trading strategy recommendations.
• Develop hedging strategies for freight exposures and execution of strategies.
• Execute FFA and other approved derivative transactions.
• Manage orders/positions within approved risk limits.
• Document trading rationale and maintain governance and controls.
