About Us: We are a start-up developing innovative drone solutions for marine sector .We are seeking a highly skilled and independent freelance UAV Systems Technician to support our new drone builds and testing

Project Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced UAV Systems Technician to assist us on a project-by-project basis. This role is ideal for a self-starter with a deep understanding of drone hardware, software, and repair, who can work flexibly to meet project deadlines and technical demands.

Responsibilities: As a freelance UAV Systems Technician, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, which may include, but are not limited to:

• Assembly & Integration: Assembling, calibrating, and integrating various components of UAV systems (flight controllers, motors, ESCs, GPS, cameras, sensors, telemetry systems, etc.).

• Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing complex issues on various types of drones (e.g., multi-rotors, fixed-wing, VTOL), including diagnosing and replacing faulty components.

• Pre-Flight & Post-Flight Checks: Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections, calibrations, and post-flight data analysis to ensure optimal system performance and safety.

• Software & Firmware Management: Installing, configuring, and updating flight control software, ground station software, and firmware for various UAV platforms and payloads.

• System Testing: Conducting functional tests, flight tests, and performance evaluations to validate system integrity and operational readiness.

• Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs, modifications, and system configurations.

• Field Support (as needed): Providing on-site technical support for drone operations, including setup, calibration, and troubleshooting in diverse environments.

• Payload Integration: Integrating and calibrating specialized payloads (e.g., LiDAR, thermal cameras, multispectral sensors) with UAV platforms.

• Research & Development Support: Assisting with the prototyping and testing of new UAV technologies and components.

Qualifications:

• Proven Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a UAV Technician, Drone Mechanic, or similar role.

• Technical Proficiency:

o Strong understanding of drone flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and control systems.

o Expertise in soldering, wiring, and electronic component replacement.

o Proficiency with various flight controllers (e.g., Pixhawk, DJI, ArduPilot, Betaflight, etc.) and ground control station software (e.g., Mission Planner, QGroundControl, DJI Go/Pilot).

o Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., SBUS, PPM, DSMX, MAVLink).

o Familiarity with common drone motors, ESCs, batteries (LiPo, Li-Ion), and charging practices.

• Troubleshooting Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for both hardware and software issues.

• Safety Conscious: Adherence to strict safety protocols and best practices in drone operations and maintenance.

• Self-Motivated & Independent: Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical issues and solutions.

• Tools & Equipment: Access to necessary tools and equipment for drone assembly, maintenance, and repair.

• Relevant certifications or technical diplomas are a plus.
