The successful candidate reports to the ITP Coordinators and will collaborate with Music Department staff to support student performances, develop lesson plans, and maintain safety standards for

Qualifications

  • Music qualification or an equivalent
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience
  • Experience delivering music lessons in a school or similar setting
  • Well-organised and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with other staff members in the college
  • Commitment to making a positive difference in students' lives

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and paired oboe lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
  • Plan and prepare lessons aligned to examination syllabuses.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination requirements.
  • Liaise with parents, ITP Coordinators, and Music Department on progress.
  • Create engaging, creative, and challenging lessons.
  • Collaborate with students, colleagues, and UWCSEA team members.
  • Support student performances and recitals throughout the year.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements for working as a musician

UWCSEA campuses seek qualified candidates for the position of Freelance Music Instructor - Woodwind (Oboe) [IEC] from October 2026. Initially this role will be based on our East campus, however there may be opportunities to also support the Dover ITP team.

This candidate reports directly to the ITP Coordinators on East and Dover Campuses. The position will be involved with delivering individual and paired lessons in the Instrumental Teaching Programme (ITP). There may also be opportunities to support our ensemble activities for suitable candidates.

United World College South East Asia, Instrumental Teaching Programme, aims to develop the full potential in all our student instrumentalists and vocalists.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strong ability in delivering individual and paired lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
  • Provide highest teaching standards – planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabuses.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements as required.
  • Liaising with parents, ITP Coordinator, and Music Department members regarding student progress and attainment.
  • To think creatively to provide innovative lessons that are engaging, fun, and challenging.
  • To work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and other UWCSEA team members.
  • Supporting student performances and recitals throughout the year.
  • A good understanding of the health and safety requirements of working as a musician.
Person Specifications
