Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Aruba is seeking an innovative FPGA Design Engineer to develop high-speed digital circuits for networking products. You will handle end-to-end FPGA/PLD development, from digital logic design to validation and hardware integration, collaborating across global teams.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in FPGA design, strong Verilog skills, and hands-on experience with Xilinx/Altera tools. Knowledge of SDN, PCIe, and timing analysis is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on FPGA design experience, preferably with Verilog.
• Experience with architecture definition and system integration of FPGA designs.
• Experience in performing FPGA Worst Case Timing Analysis (WCA).
• Familiarity with PCI-Express, DDR5/4, I2C, SPI, RS232, MDIO, XAUI.
• Experience with Altera Quartus or Xilinx Vivado IDE including synthesis, simulation, place & route, timing closure.
• Experience developing directed tests for full chip test benches with Cadence IES and QuestaSim.
• SystemVerilog assertions are an advantage.
• Python/Java scripting is a plus.
• Exposure to oscilloscope and logic analyzers for debugging.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end FPGA/PLD development from design to validation and hardware integration.
• Derive specifications based on product requirements.
• Develop simulation and hardware test environments, test plans and cases; execute tests and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system validation and integration testing with hardware.
• Research innovative solutions and enable next-gen designs, including patent filing.
• Own all aspects of assigned areas including verification.

Responsibilities

You will be:

• Responsible for end-to-end FPGA/PLD development, from digital logic design, detailed simulation, synthesis, validation and integration with hardware involving debugging and resolving systems issues.
• Derive specification based on product requirements.
• Develop Simulation and Hardware test environment, test plan and test cases based on FPGA and product specification. Require executing test cases, debug and resolve issues to meet full features in functional requirements.
• Collaborate with other technical contributors on system validation and integration testing with hardware.
• Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting edge designs, including filing patents and enabling next generation technologies.
• Be a team player, owning all aspects of assigned areas including verification.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience with FPGA design, preferably with Verilog.
• Successfully completed complex designs from concept to production
• Experience with architecture definition, system integration of FPGA design and strong logic design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ability to derive specification based on product requirements
• Experience in performing FPGA WCA (Worst Case Timing Analysis)
• Familiarity with common processor interfaces (PCI-Express, DDR5/4, I2C, SPI, RS232, MDIO, XAUI).
• Experience with Altera Quartus or Xilinx Vivado IDE including synthesis, simulation, place and route, timing closure.
• Experience developing directed tests for full chip test bench environments with Cadence IES, Questasim.
• Experience with system Verilog assertion is an advantage.
• Experience using Python, Java to do scripting is an advantage.
• Exposure to integration and debugging tools, such as oscilloscope and logic analyzers.
• Self-driven and able to work independently.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills to enable global and cross-functional engagements, plus ability to read, comprehend and explain engineering drawings and technical documents.
