Job summary

Zen Career Pte Ltd is hiring a senior R&D leader to direct a team of Food Technologists and researchers in developing innovative nutritional products. You will drive concept–to–scale innovations, oversee lab trials, pilot testing, and commercialization, while guiding strategy in health-focused food tech.

The role requires 5–7 years in leadership within food R&D, strong product development experience across bakery, dairy or nutritional foods, and a vision for future food concepts.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership experience in an R&D/Supervisory role.
• Proven track record in food product innovation from concept to scale-up.
• Experience with scale-up and technology transfer in food domain.
• Strong knowledge of ingredients and applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Food Technologists and junior researchers in developing and producing innovative nutritional food products.
• Drive new product development from concept through laboratory trials, pilot testing, scale-up and commercialization.
• Develop future food concepts, recipes and applications based on trends, health and nutrition developments.
• Lead R&D projects with planning, execution, evaluation and commercialization.
• Provide technical guidance on food technology, formulation and processes.
• Collaborate with scientists and partners to support research initiatives and new capabilities.
• Mentor and develop junior staff to strengthen the team's capabilities.
• Contribute to strategic direction of food R&D, identifying opportunities in health and future foods.
• Build and enhance food technology capabilities through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Job scope:

• Lead and manage a team of Food Technologists and junior researchers in the development, improvement and production of innovative nutritional food products.


• Drive new product development from concept and formulation through laboratory trials, pilot-scale testing, scale-up and commercial production.


• Develop innovative “future food” concepts, recipes and applications based on emerging food industry trends, consumer needs, health and nutrition developments.


• Lead food innovation and R&D projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, technical evaluation and successful commercialisation.


• Provide technical expertise and guidance on food technology, formulation, ingredient applications and product development processes.


• Collaborate with scientists, internal stakeholders and industry partners to support research initiatives and develop new food technologies and capabilities


• Oversee, mentor and develop junior researchers and Food Technologists, strengthening the technical capabilities of the Food Innovation team


• Contribute to the strategic direction of food research and innovation, identifying new opportunities in health, nutrition and future food technologies


• Build and enhance the organisation's food technology capabilities through research, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field, with 5–7 years of relevant industry experience.


• At least 5 years of experience in an R&D supervisory or leadership role, including cross-functional team management.


• Proven experience in food product innovation and commercialisation, from laboratory concept and formulation to scale-up and technology transfer.


• Strong experience in food product development across areas such as bakery, dairy, confectionery, culinary and/or nutritional foods.


• Ability to develop innovative products based on consumer trends and market needs, including plant-based, reduced-sugar and gluten‑free concepts.


• Strong knowledge of food ingredients and applications, with proven experience managing R&D and food innovation projects.


• Strong leadership, business acumen, technical decision‑making and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and influence others.
