Our Sales Unit Commodity Solutions has a growing large customer base. Within Commodity Solutions Germany & BeNeLux the Commodity Flow Desk Global (CFD) provides wholesale market access to different client sectors. The CFD acts as a cross-commodity hub for external counterparties with relevant exposures in Power, Gas, Emission Certificates and derivative hedging products..

For the growth of our financial and physical downstream Sales Trading activities in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), we are looking to explore new OTC opportunities in close alignment with our existing trading and renewables activities.

About the role

  • Build the Future of RWEST CFD in APAC - You will play a key role in shaping the future of RWE's Commodity Flow Desk (CFD) in APAC.
  • You will be responsible for pricing CFD Oil-flow activities and running disciplined derivatives hedging portfolio using discretionary or systematic strategies.
  • You will manage any financial Oil-portfolio positions across the entire tenor, ensuring a proactive approach of trading and optimizing activities, while maintaining strict adherence to risk limits, stop-loss thresholds, and P&L accountability.
  • You will support internal risk monitoring processes, enhancing transparency and ensuring alignment with RWEST’s internal governance standards
  • Providing regular updates on positions, exposure, and trading rationale to functional lead and the Head of Commodity Flow Desk Global.
  • Within the team you will play a leading role in key products market analysis (monitor/interpret macro trends, supply-demand fundamentals etc.) as well as strategy development (build/refine trading strategies generating alpha). Collaborating with analysts, operations, risk, and senior trading leadership to align views and share market intel.
  • You will also play an integral role in groundwork setup, for new jurisdictions and products, with different stakeholders and together with the Functional Lead
  • Investigating and assessing the business case potential
  • Defining the required country and product set up
  • Close collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders to deliver necessary approvals.

Job requirements and experience

  • You hold a university and/or higher degree in business, engineering or a related field
  • You bring substantial experience in financial oil trading and/ or hedging portfolio management (min. 3 years of trading experience is preferred) from roles within banking, energy majors, or energy trading, across upstream and downstream markets in APAC, particularly within our focus markets: Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore
  • You understand the risk management approach of different customer sectors and aggregators in energy commodities in particular financial Oil in APAC. Experience in trading other commodities, such as Power, LNG, etc., is an advantage.
  • You are proactive, entrepreneurial, and display high initiative with a clear drive to develop new business opportunities, while embracing challenges, working well both independently and in teams, and applying complex analytical and conceptual thinking to problem-solving
  • You are looking to take on new challenges, are comfortable with operating independently or
  • You are able to travel across the region as needed
