Job description
  • Oversee a group of Technical Superintendents and Senior Technical Superintendents who will be in charge of the day-to-day technical administration of the vessels.
  • Ensure that approved budgets are not exceeded while upholding the highest standards of operational reliability by managing and exercising budgetary control for the fleet's purchases of docking services, repair and maintenance, spares, and stocks.
  • Comparing suppliers to make sure the services you're buying are reasonably priced.
  • Proactive in establishing procedures and monitoring compliance to enhance the performance of the vessel.
  • Execution of projects chosen to increase the vessel(s) dependability and efficiency.
  • Establish, evaluate, and track the KPI for the team and the boats in accordance with the business's goals. Conduct routine data analysis of expenses, PMS, and other KPI indicators to determine the ship's overall health from a ship management perspective.
  • Visiting the ships as needed to keep an eye on their overall state, crew performance, safety, environmental preservation, and the efficiency of the company's ISM and procedures. This includes visiting the ships while they are in drydock.
  • When necessary, schedule pre-purchase inspections of the vessels and evaluate the results to determine the condition of the vessels.
  • Lead by example, coach your team, and inspire them to achieve the operational efficiency and fleet safety standards that the firm demands.
  • Observe the third-party ship managers' performance in relation to the owners' vessels under their management;
  • Ability to keep good interactions with stakeholders both inside and outside the company, including accurate information delivery.
  • Make sure the goals of the organisation are fulfilled while keeping in mind the financial effects of technical choices.
  • Execute any additional technical assignments that are assigned by the director or senior management as needed.
Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience as Chief Engineer and a Class 1 Certificate of Competency.
  • Strong comprehension of the role's ramifications and shore-based tasks.
  • Capacity to oversee financial and technological requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of the industry's technological advancements and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in utilising cutting‑edge software to enhance the functioning of the vessel.
  • A minimum of three years' experience overseeing a group of technical superintendents and at least twenty container ships (a combination of tankers and containers will also be taken into consideration) as a fleet manager.
  • Prior experience managing an international workforce would be beneficial.
  • Previous knowledge of dry docking.
  • The candidate ought to be well‑versed in the SMS and PMS systems.
