Fleet Manager - based in India

Our client, a leading MNC in the maritime industry, is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the technical management of their ocean-going vessels.

Organization : As the Technical Head, you will report to senior leadership and manage a fleet of vessels, leading a team of technical superintendents while ensuring operational efficiency, budgeting, dry docks, and compliance.

Your responsibilities :

1. Be at the forefront of overseeing the Marine, Technical, and Safety operations of a fleet of vessels.
   
2. Planning, organizing, and monitoring the efficient resource management of all department superintendents and operation assistants/executives.
   
3. Play a crucial role in preparing the annual fleet operating budgets with inputs from all the Superintendents.
   
4. Monitor the expenditure against the budget, explaining variances in the monthly report to the Senior Management, with contributions from the Superintendents.
   
5. Plan, coordinate, and implement a systematic Planned Maintenance Program.
   
6. Oversee internal and external audits, and reviews of ISM, ISPS, and ISO, with the assistance of the Team Lead in the Safety & Training Department.
   
7. Be the point of contact for coordinating with the Company’s insurance section for claim settlement with the respective superintendents.
   
8. Attend to casualty, incident, personnel accident investigation, and reporting, ensuring compliance with the various regulations.
   
9. Promote and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
   
10. Maintain a harmonious working relationship among team members and colleagues while ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
    

Requirements

1. A qualified Marine Engineer, or equivalent diploma holder in marine/navigation.
   
2. Experience sailing on a merchant vessel as a Chief Engineer is a must.
   
3. At least 2 years as a Fleet Manager leading technical management of merchant vessels is a must.
   
4. 8 to 10 years relevant shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
   
5. Solid expertise in managing dry docking projects.
   
6. Good stakeholder management skills, ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders.
   
7. Strong knowledge of corporate governance, budgeting, and adherence to strict and timely reporting frameworks.
   
8. Excellent communication and influencing skills to drive alignment and decision-making.
   
9. People-oriented and passionate about developing shipboard and shore-based teams.
