Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Fine Art & Specie Underwriter to join our client's expanding team in Singapore. This role is open to candidates with a variety of experience levels, provided they bring a strategic mindset and the ability to expand our market presence across Southeast Asia and beyond.

As a Fine Art & Specie Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of high-value fine art, collectibles, precious metals, and other high-net-worth assets. You will be expected to assess risks, develop tailored insurance solutions, and contribute to profitable growth by identifying new areas of market opportunity, particularly those not currently covered in our existing portfolio.

This role is ideally suited for an individual who is proactive, analytical, and driven to build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and intermediaries. You must have a keen interest in the fine art and specie sectors, and the expertise to develop coverage solutions relevant to collectors, galleries, museums, dealers, and financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting and managing a portfolio of fine art and specie policies.
  • Developing new business opportunities, particularly in underrepresented regions such as Singapore, Japan, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
  • Conducting risk assessments and pricing in line with company underwriting guidelines.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Staying up to date with industry developments and market trends.
  • Contributing to the development of strategic business plans and underwriting guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in fine art, specie, or related classes of underwriting is desirable but not essential if relevant transferable skills can be demonstrated.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify and develop new market opportunities.
  • Knowledge of markets in Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on expanding regional footprint.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a regional team.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of organisational skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated underwriter who is eager to play a key role in a growing line of business. The position offers exposure to a range of unique and valuable assets, and the chance to shape the company’s presence in a key global region.
