Job description

Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover-5 month contract)

Sony Music Entertainment is currently looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, on a maternity cover basis.

In this role, you will be looking after our Malaysia and Singapore entities.

Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will be an integral member of the Sony Music Finance team and will be responsible for ensuring that reporting is completed accurately and on time.

What you'll do:
  • Preparation of month end journals and reconciliations for management accounts and interface from local ledger to US GAAP ledger;
  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly US reports;
  • Monthly forecasting using global tool;
  • Ensuring Accounting standards and policies are adhered to (US GAAP & IFRS);
  • Client invoicing, follow up, bank reconciliations and receipting works
  • Year end audit with external auditors;
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations each month including receivables, accruals, and provisions
  • Assist in tax compliance – (Malaysia and Singapore) including income tax return, US tax packages and Non-Resident Withholding Tax (NRWT);
  • Assist in yearly budgeting exercise.
Who you are:
  • Bachelor degree in commerce/finance/business/economics majoring in accounting;
  • CA/CPA qualified or studying towards;
  • Minimum 5 years work experience – mover from chartered/auditing encouraged;
  • SAP & Business Warehouse is preferred;
  • Process and deadline driven mindset with a keen eye for detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other financial software and tools for reporting and analysis purposes;
  • Ability to multi-task and switch between entities with varying currencies;
  • Experience working for a global company with very tight month end reporting deadlines is very desirable
  • Extensive journal preparation and entering into ledger
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliations
  • Good communication skills and ability to integrate with fast paced; dynamic environment.
