Job Description
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the full spectrum of finance functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, and financial analysis. You will also lead initiatives to improve financial processes and support strategic business decisions through accurate and insightful reporting. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong understanding of finance in the construction, marine, or engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the finance team in preparing full sets of accounts, financial statements, and management reports.
- Manage, analyse, and coordinate the reporting of business performance including revenue, expenses, key value drivers, and industry trends.
- Track and analyse project costs, revenue, and margins (Project Accounting).
- Prepare project financial reports, monitor progress claims, variations, and perform variance analysis.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate project budgeting and cost control.
3. Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Review tax computations including corporate tax and GST submissions.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and other external parties to ensure compliance and timely submissions.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of statutory financial returns.
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and ensure financial stability of the company.
- Oversee payroll, employee benefits, and other financial operational functions.
5. Risk Management, Legal & Internal Controls
- Guide the drafting and execution of financial policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Ensure successful implementation in alignment with the Group’s compliance and governance goals.
- Oversee internal audits and manage financial risk exposures.
6. Finance Operations & Process Improvement
- Drive improvements in finance processes, systems, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure accuracy, accountability, and timely delivery of all finance-related functions.
7. Business Partnering & Strategic Advisory
- Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to support business decisions.
- Collaborate with operational teams to analyse costs, optimize resource allocation, and improve profitability.
- Support the development of financial strategies and long-term business plans.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to meet organizational and professional goals.
- Conduct staff performance management and ensure team alignment with company objectives.
9. Additional Duties
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent professional qualifications.
- Minimum 3–5 years of financial management experience in the Construction, Engineering, or Marine industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore accounting standards, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., ERP, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and project accounting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team-building skills.
