A leading engineering firm in Singapore seeks a Finance Manager to oversee financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance. The ideal candidate has a degree in Accounting or Finance, 6-8 years of experience in project-based sectors, and expertise in Singapore Financial Reporting Standards. This individual contributor role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in an industrial engineering or construction environment and brings a strong foundation in both financial and operational finance. You will be responsible for a broad scope including financial reporting, project accounting, budgeting and forecasting, risk management, regulatory compliance, taxation, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Controlling
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and monthly management report packages, ensuring integrity and compliance with internal and external requirements.
Prepare divisional business performance dashboards ensuring commentaries provide meaningful insight for business decisions.
Review financial analytical and trend reports, ensuring that the analysis provides financial transparency for group performance review.
Support the month-end close process, stepping in on journal entries or intercompany reconciliations only when necessary to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reports.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Support preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.
Consolidate stakeholder inputs, challenge assumptions, and ensure reliable financial projections.
Monitor performance against budget and forecast, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
3. Business Partnering & Commercial Support
Work cross-functionally with operations, sales, and project teams to assess financial impact of business activities.
Oversee project controlling activities, prepare accurate POC templates, and support cost center reporting for stakeholders in Singapore and overseas.
Oversee the application and administration of bankers’ guarantees, ensuring alignment with commercial and contractual terms.
Guide the senior accountant in the preparation and submission of Letter of Credit (LC) documents for timely and accurate negotiation with banks.
Translate financial data into insights to guide decisions across functions and geographies.
4. Taxation, Audit & Statutory Compliance
Oversee GST submissions, withholding tax returns, and support year-end tax computations.
Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and company secretaries to fulfill statutory obligations.
Contribute to transfer pricing documentation and participate in MES audit.
5. Credit Control & Working Capital
Review receivables aging and lead the senior accountant in debt recovery efforts with sales and project management team.
Review cash flow planning and optimize working capital management to support business continuity and planned investment needs.
Monitor and manage cash positions across currencies; recommend actions to mitigate foreign exchange exposure through effective treasury planning.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that capex, procurement, and customer payment cycles are aligned to support liquidity and cash efficiency.
6. Internal Controls & Risk Management
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, support internal audits and SOX compliance reviews.
Identify operational risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and uphold governance standards.
7. Projects & Process Improvements
Lead or participate in finance-related initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, data quality and information transparency.
Support intercompany alignment and manage documentation of intercompany agreements.
What You Bring
Degree in Accounting or Finance from a reputable university, or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA Australia).
6 to 8 years of managerial experience in a multinational environment in project-based sectors, ideally in marine & offshore engineering or industrial equipment and process technology, or construction or manufacturing.
Experience in both financial reporting and project controlling, planning & analysis, with exposure to tax, audit, and project cost management.
Solid working knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), with hands-on experience in preparing statutory financial statements in compliance with local requirements.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply new accounting standards, and readiness to lead or support their implementation (e.g. revenue recognition, leasing, insurance contracts).
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, MS Dynamics) and Excel/Power BI.
