An international electronics company based in Singapore is seeking an Accounting Specialist to prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and 3-5 years of related experience. Experience with SAP is preferred. This role requires strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
Provide financial information to both local and headquarters group management by analyzing accounting data, preparing reports, and entering data into a group reporting system
Prepare asset, liability, and capital entries in accordance with local accounting standards
Monitor inventory valuation in accordance with local accounting standards
Assess customer creditworthiness prior to granting or extending credit
Minimize potential bad debt losses by ensuring consistent credit management practices, including a continuous dunning process
Record financial transactions by accurately entering account information
Ensure that all office expenses and employee claims are accurately processed and documented in compliance with company policies (e.g., treasury policy)
Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Prepare payments by reviewing supporting documentation and initiating disbursement requests
Respond to inquiries on accounting procedures by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations
Ensure compliance with local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Prepare tax filings and ensure timely tax payments
Additional tasks may be assigned, or other reasonable duties may be performed
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance preferred
3-5 years of experience in accounting / finance, with 1-2 years of experience in audit firm preferred
Experience with SAP or common accounting software
Experience in working within an international group / sales organization preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices
Knowledge of local GAAP rules
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with commitment to keep deadlines
Ability to handle confidential finance data and information
Effective communication skills to work with all levels within the organization
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
