A logistics company in Singapore is seeking a Finance Assistant Manager to manage financial reporting and compliance processes across supply chain activities. Job Summary –
The Finance Assistant Manager in a logistics environment is responsible for managing the financial reporting, operational accounting, and compliance processes across the company’s supply chain activities. This includes overseeing day-to-day finance operations, reviewing financial data for accuracy, supporting cost analysis, and ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations. The role also involves working closely with operations teams to track logistics costs, monitor KPIs, and improve financial visibility.
Key Responsibilities -
Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing:
· Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
· Prepare and review financial statements, profit & loss (P&L), balance sheets, and variance analyses.
· Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., SFRS, IFRS).
Operational Accounting:
· Oversee accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger (GL), and intercompany transactions.
· Validate key cost drivers such as fuel, transport charges, 3PL costs, warehouse leasing, and asset depreciation.
· Ensure proper accruals for logistics-related costs (e.g., subcontractor fees, fleet maintenance).
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Analysis:
· Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and rolling estimates.
· Analyse cost-to-serve by service line (e.g., freight forwarding, last-mile delivery, cold chain).
· Track and report key financial KPIs such as cost per delivery, asset utilization, and transport margins.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
· Maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions and processes.
· Support compliance with corporate governance, statutory tax filing (GST, income tax, WHT), and audit requirements.
· Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and government authorities as needed.
Cash Flow & Treasury Support:
· Monitor company cash flow and working capital requirements.
· Review and approve bank reconciliations, payment runs, and vendor disbursements.
· Coordinate with finance institutions for banking facilities, trade finance, or leasing arrangements.
Team Management & Process Improvement:
· Supervise and mentor junior finance staff; provide training and performance feedback.
· Streamline finance workflows through automation, ERP improvements, or digitalization projects.
· Partner with operations and procurement teams to enhance cost tracking and reporting processes.
Job Requirements –
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA preferred
Experience:
· 5–8 years in finance or accounting roles, with at least 2–3 years in a logistics or supply chain environment
Technical Proficiency:
· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, dashboards); proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent)
Knowledge Areas:
· Sound understanding of logistics operations and their financial implications (freight billing, fleet depreciation, warehousing costs)
Soft Areas:
· Strong analytical thinking, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Key Competencies -
· Accuracy and financial acumen in a high-transaction environment
· Ability to liaise across departments (e.g., operations, procurement, HR) to ensure financial transparency
· Strong time management and ability to meet strict reporting deadlines
