A leading company in the oil and gas sector is seeking an experienced inspection technician. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, providing onshore and rig inspection coverage, and delivering technical support on oil country tubular goods. Candidates should have substantial experience in inspection practices, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to travel globally as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform all work, in line with defined Quality Procedures and Standards
Ensure compliance of the Company’s HSE Policies and Procedures, Safe Working Practices and Statutory Regulations at all times.
To provide OCTG onshore inspection coverage as required within APAC and worldwide.
To provide OCTG rig inspection coverage as required within APAC and worldwide.
To provide technical support on premium connections in the field.
To ensure personnel contracted by company to carry out their duties in accordance with company procedures.
To ensure efficient operations of inspection and pipe cleaning equipment.
To provide and record safety toolbox talks held with labor or sub-contract personnel.
To utilize computer systems to compile inspection reports relating to service visits and expense claims, and to input information via the internet, formistica or the drive system for internal reporting.
To ensure that expense claims are submitted within 5 working days after returning from a job Participate as required in continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify where corrective action is required and take appropriate action where necessary.
Job Requirements:
Must possess a recognized appropriate craft qualification reached through apprenticeship and achievement of City & Guilds Certification or other equivalent, with a minimum of five years’ experience in the oil and gas industry and of inspection and gauging practices
A formal qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline to at least ITE or equivalent level is desirable.
Comprehensive knowledge of specifications relative to OCTG and related oil industry equipment.
Experience in tube production finishing and inspection of OCTG material inclusive of assembly make-up, rig ready / rig return, rig remote graph review, observing pressure testing.
The role requires knowledge, understanding and application of company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and Safe Working Practices and to ensure compliance with all relevant H&S requirements (statutory and company) by self and those assigned.
Good user knowledge of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook), as the postholder will require to monitor and interpret operational data and produce technical reports.
Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to react promptly, make decisions under pressure, and use initiative when dealing with Company related matters.
Must demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to problem solving.
Be able to operate, ensuring the proper use and care of, company plant and equipment, machinery, personal equipment, test equipment and tool kit.
Willing to travel globally (mainly SEA) on as business needed basis with short notice given.
