Job summary

Soitec is seeking an Electrical Engineer to oversee and manage electrical engineering projects in a dynamic environment. The role involves coordinating tool hook-up, project leadership, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, with a strong preference for those experienced in semiconductor manufacturing. A proactive approach to risk management and strong communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience leading sustainability activities & reporting.
  • Experience in Semiconductor manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Fresh diploma graduates or equivalent certification welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the physical hook-up of tools and equipment, ensuring proper connections for gas, chemical, electrical, and other utilities.
  • Collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and system owners to ensure smooth installation and timely completion.
  • Identifying and resolving issues during the hook-up process.
  • Managing electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical problems in systems and equipment.

Purpose:

To support expansion or change in production or non production related. Likewise, the same engineer must be flexible to take over electrical system in the event there is re-organization.

What does the job consist?

Operations and Management of Tools hook up

  • Overseeing the physical hook-up of tools and equipment, ensuring proper connections for gas, chemical, electrical, and other utilities.
  • Collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and system owners to ensure smooth installation and timely completion without causing unschedule interruption to production.
  • Identifying and resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the hook-up process.

Projects

  • Support facilities improvement and expansion project.
  • Lead or support the project teams, and ensure proper coordination with system owners, consultants, and various contractors to ensure project work is carried out smoothly and meeting the necessary requirements.
  • Monitor daily project / construction activities and highlight risk or issues related to project delay, quality, cost, non compliance, interruption to production, and safety. Lead immediate escalation to affected stakeholders.
  • Lead the review of contracts and scope of works to ensure clarity on the boundaries or scope and avoid future conflicts and variation order.
  • Lead the tender process with procurement including the creation of Request for quotation (RFQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) and evaluate tender submissions.
  • Periodical project update and reporting to management team and project team.
  • Keeping track of important project documents like project plans, blueprints, vendor contracts and drawings. Keeping documentation secure and backed up but easily available to users..
  • Lead proper takeover from the contractors and proper handover to system owners. Ensure proper handshake on meeting the agreed requirements and clear on punch list or defect list management.

Electrical Engineer

  • Managing electrical engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical problems in systems and equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
  • Ensuring all electrical systems and equipment adhere to relevant safety standards and regulations.
  • Working closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Lead risk assessment to electrical system whether in operations or projects whether within electrical system or other system that may affect electrical fault or failure and lead to interruption to production (ITP).
  • Lead the HT Servicing and annual plant maintenance to ensure the stakeholders are properly coordinated on the required shutdown or switching over of power.
Requirements & qualifications

Educational Qualifications :

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field is typically required.

Experience :

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience related in leading sustainability activities & reporting.
  • Experience in Semiconductor manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Fresh diploma graduate or equivalent certification is welcome to apply.

Technical / Job Knowledge :

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with various stakeholders..
  • Prior experience in semiconductor tool installation or hook-up projects is often preferred.
  • Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and budgets effectively.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during the hook-up and project process.
