Key Responsibility

The External Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving business growth by achieving sales targets and supporting customer needs through tailored technical and commercial solutions. This position combines technical knowledge, sales acumen, and customer engagement to develop and maintain strong client relationships, identify opportunities, and deliver value-added solutions. As a key interface between the company and its customers, the External Sales Engineer ensures alignment between customer requirements and company offerings, contributing to customer satisfaction and long-term business success.

This role is based in Singapore, is part of the Sales Department, and reports directly to the Assistant Sales Manager.

The main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Service, and Industry Managers to provide seamless and effective customer support as a unified team.
  • Engage in outdoor sales activities to meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
  • Promote and grow existing customer accounts in Singapore by offering Endress+Hauser’s products, services, and solutions within the assigned industry segments.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining strong relationships, addressing inquiries and complaints promptly, and ensuring a positive end-to-end customer experience.
  • Build strong customer relationships at all organizational levels and maintain accurate, up-to-date account plans and forecasts using Salesforce Lightning CRM.
  • Work in partnership with international colleagues within our global network to ensure consistent service quality and actively contribute to Kaizen and Lean improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to customer enquiries regarding products, systems, and integrated solutions—collaborating with the Internal Sales Team to ensure clear instructions for timely quotation and proposal preparation in SAP.
  • Take ownership of the full sales cycle including customer visits, product demonstrations, negotiations, complaint resolution, technical support, quotation follow-ups, order closures, and post-sale engagement.
  • Take part in marketing efforts through participation in exhibitions, seminars, presentations, and direct mail campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Service Department with after-sales support and commissioning services where needed.
  • Execute strategic initiatives effectively and in alignment with company objectives.
  • Drive digital sales and consistently achieve or surpass digital sales targets.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and customer-centric attitude at all times.

Key Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in any Engineering related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of Technical Sales Engineer, preferably in industrial automation, instrumentation, or process control industries.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build trust, manage relationships, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Proactive, self‑driven and results‑oriented, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Solid understanding of process instrumentation and automation—covering flow, level, pressure, temperature and analytical measurement technologies.
  • Prior exposure to the water/wastewater industry is a plus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving aptitude and a willingness to dive into customer challenges to deliver effective solutions.
  • Collaborative team player with a high degree of accountability.
  • Proficiency in SAP for quotation management and Salesforce Lightning for CRM and opportunity tracking.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
