LASALLE College of the Arts is seeking an Exhibition Coordinator for their dynamic Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (ICAS). You will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing exhibitions and events, working closely with artists and staff. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree along with relevant experience in gallery or events management, emphasizing strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate self-motivation, responsibility, and proficiency with technical and maintenance aspects of exhibition setups.
The Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (ICAS) is the curatorial division of LASALLE College of the Arts. Situated at LASALLE’s dynamic city campus, ICAS’s five galleries present a programme of curated international exhibitions alongside exhibitions organised with students, academic staff and alumni. ICAS provides curatorial expertise and resources in the areas of exhibition development, display and mediation, publishing and education, and manages the LASALLE College of the Arts Collection.
Reporting to the Manager (Operations), you will play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination, and execution of our exhibitions and events. You will work closely with curators, artists, administrative and academic staff and students to produce, install and maintain exhibitions at the galleries. You will also be involved in art handling and logistics, overseeing all aspects related to art handling.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Support the planning and development of projects which include all aspects of exhibition fabrications, design, timelines, budgets and operations to ensure the smooth execution of deliverables.
Manage and work closely with internal and external stakeholders – including artists, curators, staff and students—for exhibition setup.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget in accordance to safety, design and material specifications.
Handle all administration duties, including procurement of goods for the setting up of the exhibitions.
Review and keep up with current trends and best practices that may have an impact on exhibition planning, logistics, fabrication and design related issues.
Onsite supervision during exhibition setup and manage day-to-day operations, including repairs to exhibition builds.
Perform other roles, such as exhibition checks and/or store inventory when required.
Occasionally work late nights and weekends when necessary.
Perform ad hoc assignments when required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an established university, preferably in the field of education, arts/events management with at least three years of relevant work experience in galleries/museums/events management.
Diploma holder with at least eight years or equivalent of relevant work experience in galleries/museums/events management may also be considered.
Good organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good interpersonal, spoken and written communication skills, and able to communicate with individuals across a wide range of positions, interests and skills, from artists and students to sponsors.
Self-motivated, responsible, driven and resourceful. Able to work well independently and also a good team player.
Good knowledge in technical and maintenance of IT and audio-visual equipment.
Experience with installing contemporary art exhibitions is an added advantage.
Good knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act and other work-related regulations or legislations.
Proficient in operating with Mac platforms and Microsoft 365. Knowledge in AutoCad, Photoshop or Illustrator will be an advantage.
