Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this position will manage specific procurement areas related to high spending and that is critical to the ship’s operation. They will also work on key projects related to innovation to increase efficiency and return on value.
Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities
· Identify and onboard new suppliers and service providers, leading negotiations for favourable contracts and agreements
· Proactively monitor market trends, new developments, and conduct thorough demand analyses within your assigned categories, providing valuable business insights
· Conduct on-site supplier audits and performance reviews, ensuring full compliance with contract terms and driving continuous improvement
· Use suppliers / vendors’ evaluation tools such as total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, vendor evaluation score card, price-quality ratio, supplier performance metrics & KPIs, etc.
· Track and manage suppliers’ compliance to terms of contracts and agreements
· Cultivate and nurture strong, productive relationships with suppliers to secure tangible results and effectively resolve any major disputes that may arise
· Partner with internal stakeholders to anticipate future procurement needs and requirements, aligning our strategy with operational demands
· Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum 7 years of relevant experience as purchaser with a Ship Owner or Ship Manager and at least 5 years of specific Category Management experience.
· Minimum Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics/Purchasing Management or any related disciplines.
· Strong knowledge in pricing, product and/or category management,
· Strong negotiation skills & data analysis skills set.
· High sense of integrity and resourcefulness
· Good communication skills – written and spoken English.
· High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
· Attention to details and ability to meet deadlines.
Travel
· Based in Singapore, the candidate is expected to be able to visit their assigned vendors locally or overseas as required.
