The Executive Plant Manager is responsible for leading daily operations of plants to ensure consistency and reliability on the production line, which includes Service Shops. This role manages and influences budgets and operational plans, working within established operating policy and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role has autonomy within the operational area or a segment within a larger business unit. The role may have a major impact on a small business unit or Family within a Function or P&L. Success in this role requires strong operational expertise and evaluative judgment to drive performance and achieve outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of a production facility to achieve defined targets in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with benchmarks, standards, and Lean principles.
- Manage and develop salaried employees, fostering functional expertise and providing professional or thought leadership.
- Influence policy and ensures delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the organization.
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Utilize understanding of industry trends to inform decision-making process.
- Lead problem-solving efforts to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing environments with technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
- Employ sophisticated operational, product management, manufacturing, and engineering techniques.
- Evaluate data quality, question inconsistencies, and apply critical thinking to support sound analysis and decisions.
- Leverage internal and external resources beyond the immediate function to support decision-making and execution and collaborate with adjacent functions to resolve operational issues.
- Lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
- Present business or technical discipline solutions to senior leaders.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly, influencing internal stakeholders and negotiating to drive alignment.
- Influence peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent practical experience in a manufacturing leadership role is essential.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial manufacturing, operations, driving Lean initiatives, with a proven track record of delivering results in complex, high-mix production settings is essential to the success of this role.
- Ability to demonstrate at least 6+ years of leadership experience, including direct management of large, diverse teams and cross-functional collaboration is a must as this role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to lead through influence and drive alignment across functions.
