What the role is:

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) aspires to be a world-class organisation in delivering safety and security for our people. In pursuing our mission to make Singapore our Safe and Secure Best Home, we remain always constant and true to our core values of Honour and Unity.MHA Finance Shared Services Centre (FSSC) serves to increase efficiency and improve customer experience in financial services of the ministry and the Home Team Departments (HTDs).You will be part of the Financial Accounting team and is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting records, period opening and closing activities, managing of system master data and interfaces, and accurate charging of expenditure.

What you will be working on:

Key Responsibilitiesi. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of accounting records through journal adjustments and journal interfaces.ii. Ensure timely period-end reconciliation of account balances between Financial systems to ensure accurate reporting.iii. Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of master data in the system.iv. Ensure consistent and accurate charging of expenditure across Home Team Departments in accordance to charging policies and principles. This includes review of expenditure across the Home Teams, highlight inconsistent charging practices, and work with other stakeholders to align the expenditure charging across departments.v. Participate in automation initiatives and process improvement projects (e.g., use of tools such as RPA bots or data analytics dashboards) to enhance work efficiency.

Requirementsa) Experience• Prior experience in Audit or Accounting role will be an advantage• Prior experience in using SAP will be an advantage• Prior experience working in a shared services environment will be an advantageb) Attributes• A dedicated team member• Meticulous with an eye for detail• Strong with numbers and analytical• Independent and self-driven• High comfort level with applying technology in daily work• Strong accounting knowledge and familiarity with Instruction Manual and Ministry’s charging policies and principles to assess correct charging of expenditures• Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills to engage wide spectrum of internal and external stakeholdersAll new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
