A leading environmental agency in Singapore seeks a Chemical Engineer to manage regulatory controls on hazardous substances and toxic waste. You will enhance policies, lead stakeholder engagements, and evaluate compliance through inspections. The ideal candidate has a degree in Chemical Engineering and relevant experience. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Develop, review, and enhance policies for the environmentally sound management of hazardous substances, toxic industrial waste and hazardous waste
Lead stakeholder engagement and consultations for the development and review of environmental policies and regulations
Evaluate hazardous substances and toxic industrial waste facilities through licence application assessments and site inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and requirements
Process transboundary movement of hazardous waste by evaluating Basel Permit applications, TradeNet declarations, and executing Prior Informed Consent (PIC) notifications to ensure compliance with Basel Convention requirements
Represent PCD1 and NEA to provide technical expertise on chemical and environmental pollution control in inter-agency and cross-departmental committees and working groups
Support PCD1 and NEA's operations through workplace safety and health management, after-hours pollution incident response duties, workflow process improvements, etc

Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
At least 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing operations, pollution control or environmental management
Interest in environmental protection and adept at working with different stakeholders
Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to articulate analysis and recommendations in clear and concise terms
A good team player with strong interpersonal skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently where necessary
Meticulous with an eye for detail
Driven, resourceful, organised, and able to multi-task
