Strategic Execution & Oversight
- Lead the end-to-end execution syndicated loan transactions within the Distribution Framework
- Spearhead client pitches and presentations, leveraging SMBC’s global network to formulate and deliver compelling sales and distribution strategies.
- Lead and manage the secondary selldown of loan positions, ensuring alignment with market dynamics and investor appetite.
Underwriting & Risk Management
- Oversee the preparation of underwriting memos and liquidity analyses. Take calculated underwriting risk with a strategic view toward optimal distribution and hold levels.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Drive collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and successful syndication launches and closings.
- Lead investor engagement through calls and meetings, provide updates on market trends and risk appetite, and conduct soundings where appropriate.
Internal Governance:
- Guide the preparation and presentation of syndication strategies and underwriting papers for internal approval committee
- Oversee the maintenance of loan deal databases (pricing, liquidity, structure, etc.) and ensure data integrity for strategic decision-making.
- Provide leadership in the preparation of ad-hoc reports and strategic insights to support business development and performance tracking.
- Ensure adherence to risk and compliance standards, and proactively address regulatory and operational requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Science, or Mathematics.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in financial or banking markets, ideally within Syndications and Corporate Banking.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Loan Capital Markets (LCM), Syndicate, or Distribution roles.
- Proven sales experience with direct client engagement.
- Established relationships with bank and institutional investors in the loan markets
- Strong credit assessment and deal structuring capabilities.
- Proficient in financial analysis and modeling.
- Solid understanding of loan documentation and APLMA standards.
- Familiarity with APLMA transfer documentation.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and executing strategic plans.
- Highly analytical, with expertise in business reporting, performance management, and executive-level presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
