A leading global bank, with one of the largest customer bases in Japan, and a global network of financial and business centers. Mizuho Bank Singapore Branch holds a Full Bank License and provides banking services to more than 2,000 Japanese and non–Japanese customers, operating with staff strength of more than 700 in Singapore. Its principal business encompasses corporate finance, trade finance, cash management, funds transfers, project finance, and treasury. It also collaborates with its affiliate company, Mizuho Securities, to provide investment banking solutions to its customers.

Job Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities and Deliverables of Role:

  1. Senior regional coverage banker with Chinese clients to grow Chinese MNC business for Mizuho offices in Asia excluding Japan.
  2. Undertake active marketing to Chinese MNCs, including maintaining direct C-suite contacts with clients’ global/regional headquarters, and originate domestic and regional business.
  3. Collaborate with global relationship managers in China Branch and relationship managers in responsible Asia offices to enhance business pipeline and expand client base.
  4. Take a lead role in domestic and regional client account management through origination, credit, legal, compliance, and operational process.
  5. Co-work with relationship managers in responsible Asia offices to manage credit portfolio with deep knowledge in clients, relevant industries, and markets.
  6. Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and work to find solutions with clear logic and analysis.
  7. Originate & execute industry-leading, best-in-class wholesale banking products and solutions and drive sustainable growth (income, balance sheet, and profitability), aligned to the objectives to broaden and deepen the share of wallet in the Group Coverage Client base.
  8. Work collaboratively across all Group geographies, delivering “One-Mizuho” in product solutions and service delivery, and operate on a booking-agnostic basis to the extent practicable.
  9. Drive growth through existing client relationships and new client acquisitions, inbound referrals into Asia / Develop new-to-bank business relationships.
  10. Actively lead Asia efforts to build and develop Chinese MNC business with a key focus on penetrating and serving Chinese parented clients/relationships.
  11. Engage with internal APAC colleagues (product and risk partners, China GRM network, APAC region branch RMs and product partners) through a good understanding of China-Asian corridors.
  12. Help formulate value propositions and strategies in collaboration between regional branch RM teams in Asia.
  13. Maintain frequent calls on clients to deepen relationships and proactively address future needs, roadblocks, or risks, and set clear expectations.
  14. Introduce solutions to clients to build and strengthen an effective portfolio.
  15. Drive a high-performance, client-centric business culture focused on maximizing cross-border and cross-product opportunities.
  16. Work with product specialists and subject matter experts to structure innovative and customized solutions that meet clients' individual needs.
  17. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and compliance on client onboarding and retention, ensuring “Know Your Client” (KYC) and other compliance deliverables are met.
  18. Maximize client experience by proactively sharing market updates, trends, and intelligence.
  19. Drive innovation in solutions provided to clients and develop the business further where appropriate.
  20. Execute strategic initiatives launched centrally at all levels (Group, Bank, market, and APCB).
  21. Network with clients to identify new business opportunities and cross-sell opportunities to increase share of wallet.
  22. Manage the credit relationship of clients, overseeing the entire process and ensuring proper application of policies and processes.
  23. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Mizuho’s policies/guidelines at all times.
  24. Assess risks proactively when making business decisions, safeguarding the firm’s reputation and assets, and escalating issues transparently.
  25. Drive product execution and team performance across Group geographies through pipeline and performance reviews.
  26. Promote process improvement and efficiency across the Group, encouraging improvements in key functions.
  27. Manage the corporate portfolio to align with the Bank’s risk appetite, credit policies, compliance policies, and strategic KPIs.
  28. Support the development of comprehensive client plans and participate in regular reviews to ensure discipline and accountability.
