Job description

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is all about empowering people to have life to the full.

We are a non-profit organisation serving people across all ethnicities and religions. We recognise that the people we serve may experience poverty in different ways – weak social support or fractured relationships, poor health, a sense of hopelessness, or a lack of means. We journey alongside them to uncover their inherent strengths, affirm them and support them holistically towards a better life. While MWS’ sphere of impact has expanded since our founding, our core spirit of social holiness remains unwavering. Today, we serve over 16,000 beneficiaries, including children from disadvantaged backgrounds, youths at risk, families in distress, seniors who are socially isolated, and the chronically ill and destitute.

About the role

We are looking for a Communications Executive who is passionate about storytelling and has a heart for social impact. You will play a vital role in supporting the Communications team across a broad range of work – from crafting compelling content to managing our digital presence, engaging internal and external stakeholders, and helping to safeguard and grow our brand. This is a hands-on, dynamic role ideal for someone who enjoys variety, creativity, and teamwork in a mission-driven environment

Responsibilities

Content Creation and Editorial

  • Support the development of content for newsletter/blog, website, social media, reels and video scripts, internal updates, speeches, marketing collateral, and other platforms.

  • Where required, work with third party agencies to produce assets like reels, videos, etc.

Digital and Social Media

  • Manage and schedule content across our social media platforms.

  • Track analytics to inform content planning or improvement.

  • Contribute ideas and assist in developing digital campaigns to build awareness and reach.

Media Engagement and Corporate Communications

  • Assist with media relations efforts including drafting press releases, pitching stories to media, and responding to media enquiries.

  • Support the development of the annual report and other corporate documents.

  • Coordinate responses to public feedback or complaints, in collaboration with relevant departments.

Internal Communications

  • Assist in the planning and execution of internal communication campaigns, updates, and initiatives.

  • Help manage intranet or internal platforms as needed.

Service-Level Support

  • Collaborate with MWS Centres/Services to understand their communication needs.

  • Provide editorial, creative and social media support for their events or outreach.

Brand and Visual Identity

  • Support the team in upholding MWS’ brand guidelines across all touchpoints.

  • Assist in reviewing collaterals and ensuring brand consistency in design and messaging.

Any other duties assigned by the Associate Director, Communications.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred (fresh grads with strong portfolios may be considered).

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

  • Good eye for design and layout; familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital content.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate well with colleagues across functions.

  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • A heart for social good and an openness to understanding social service and community issues.
