Position Overview:
The Amgen India Head of Medical Affairs Scientific Communications and Publications will lead the development and execution of comprehensive scientific communication strategies across our therapeutic areas. This role is pivotal in shaping and disseminating scientific narratives that enhance the understanding and appreciation of our products among healthcare professionals, patients, and public health decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Build and scale the Amgen India Scientific Communications and Publications capability and team, e.g., end-to-end Medical Communications hub.
- Lead the Amgen India Scientific Communications (SciComm) Team across the Therapeutic Area (TA) portfolio, including both marketed products and pipeline molecules.
- Oversee worldwide delivery of medical content for Global, US, and other countries, including publications, medical education, congress content, medical information, and reviews.
- Drive the adoption of innovative approaches and digital solutions, e.g., Gen AI for content development.
- Ensure alignment of scientific messages across all platforms and materials.
- Team Management:
- Mentor, inspire, and manage a diverse team of scientific communication specialists.
- Recruit, retain, and motivate high-performing staff, ensuring effective talent management and succession planning.
- Provide training programs and projects to develop team members' skills and careers.
- Collaboration and Compliance:
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues for alignment of scientific messages.
- Partner with global and commercial teams for strategic planning and oversight.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs and industry guidelines, evolving procedures as needed.
- Drive solutions for US MLR submissions.
- Operational Excellence:
- Lead prioritization, resource allocation, and manage vendor relationships.
- Implement systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, KCIs, and KQIs for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree & 6 years of scientific communications experience OR
- Masters degree & 10 years of experience OR
- Bachelors degree & 12 years of experience
- 6 years of managerial or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a life science discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD)
- Experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Leadership experience managing teams and functions
- Knowledge of Good Publication Practices and external guidelines (e.g., ICMJE, GPP)
- Strong communication, project planning, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of industry guidelines, regulatory environment, and budget management
