Baker Tilly seeks an experienced ESG Assistant Manager / Senior to bolster our Sustainability and ESG team. This role includes delivering ESG solutions like due diligence and compliance, engaging with clients to navigate ESG integration effectively. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ESG frameworks and significant consulting experience, contributing to impactful sustainability initiatives.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic ESG Assistant Manager / Senior to join our Sustainability and ESG team at Baker Tilly. This role involves delivering comprehensive ESG solutions to clients, including ESG due diligence, sustainability reporting, sustainable finance advisory, and compliance with global ESG frameworks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support clients in navigating the complexities of ESG integration and aligning their strategies with emerging sustainability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. ESG Advisory & Compliance
Assist clients in developing and implementing ESG strategies aligned with their business goals and stakeholder expectations
Provide guidance on ESG regulatory compliance and reporting standards, including TCFD, ISSB, GRI, SASB, and jurisdiction-specific regulations
Conduct ESG materiality assessments, gap analyses, and stakeholder engagement exercises
2. ESG Due Diligence
Lead ESG due diligence assessments for mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities
Evaluate ESG risks and opportunities in transactions and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance value creation
Develop ESG integration frameworks for private equity, venture capital, and corporate clients
3. Climate Reporting & Modelling
Oversee the development of climate-related disclosures in line with TCFD / ISSB S2 recommendations and other climate frameworks
Conduct scenario analysis and climate modeling to evaluate potential risks and impacts of climate change on client operations and financial performance
Analyse climate data to support clients in understanding and mitigating transitional and physical climate risks
Develop emissions reduction pathways and net-zero roadmaps using advanced climate modelling techniques
4. Sustainability Reporting
Oversee the preparation and review of ESG and sustainability reports to ensure compliance with global standards
Analyse ESG data and metrics to support transparent, accurate, and impactful reporting
Advise clients on ESG data collection, management, and technology-enabled reporting processes
5. Sustainable Finance Advisory
Support clients in aligning financial strategies with ESG principles, including green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and other sustainable finance instruments
Conduct assessments and certifications for green and sustainable financing initiatives
Provide insights on global sustainable finance trends and help clients access ESG-linked funding opportunities
6. ESG Ratings & Benchmarking
Guide clients in improving their ESG ratings (e.g., MSCI, S&P, CDP) and benchmarking against industry peers
Provide strategies to address ESG-related performance gaps and enhance market positioning
7. Client Management & Business Development
Build strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor for their ESG and sustainability needs.
Support business development efforts, including crafting proposals, delivering presentations, and participating in client pitches.
Identify opportunities for expanding the firm’s ESG service offerings and assist in go-to-market strategies.
8. Team Development & Collaboration
Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering professional growth and knowledge-sharing
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including transaction advisory, tax, audit, and corporate finance, to deliver holistic ESG solutions
Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging ESG trends, and regulatory changes to inform client engagements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., SASB FSA, GRI, CFA ESG, or PRI Academy) are highly desirable
4+ years of experience in ESG consulting, sustainable finance, or ESG due diligence, preferably in a professional services or consulting firm
In-depth knowledge of ESG frameworks, reporting standards, and sustainable finance principles
Proven expertise in ESG risk assessment, due diligence processes, and financial impact evaluation
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel)
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with client-facing experience
Strong knowledge of global sustainable finance instruments and frameworks
