Equity Research Analyst (buy-side)

About the company

I am partnered with one of the largest and most well-known prop trading firms in the world that focus on quantitative and research driven strategies. They trade equities, options, ETFs, fixed income, commodities, crypto and more – across global markets.

They are expanding their Equity Research team in Sydney and are looking for a junior candidate to join them. Our ideal candidate would be a long/short candidate from buy-side firms and Equity Researchers from top-tier sell-side firms. We will also consider more vanilla long-only buy-side candidates if you have an excellent track record.

This role will require relocation from Singapore to Sydney.

About the role

You will join the team as an Equity Research Analyst and work closely with the traders to identify potential investment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research to identify catalyst events for the stocks/sectors under coverage
• Perform financial modelling and stock valuation analysis
• Work closely with the team to produce actionable investment ideas
• Provide real-time opinions on breaking news and headlines while also evaluating impacts of special situations and other corporate actions on stocks
• Attend trainings, company events and conferences as required

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of professional experience doing fundamental research
• Degree in Finance, Economics or related discipline with top-tier results
• Multi-asset exposure (e.g. fixed income, commodities, forex) would be a plus but not required
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
