Job description

ISCE2 is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to be part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team to develop next-generation green and sustainable technology for the biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. This position offers an opportunity to develop biocatalysts while leveraging advanced technology for more streamlined manufacturing of complex molecules. The ideal candidate is passionate about science and sustainability, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, enjoys laboratory work, and has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Design and conduct experiments to engineer enzymes in biochemical pathways for the production of selected chemicals.
  2. Utilize advanced technology, including AI, machine learning, and informatics, to screen and engineer enzymes.
  3. Lead independent studies and supervise junior researchers.
  4. Maintain accurate records, analyze data, and present research findings at conferences, meetings, and to stakeholders.
  5. Write and publish high-impact papers in peer-reviewed journals, and prepare technical disclosures and patent applications.
  6. Manage projects and resources to meet timelines and deliverables.
  7. Represent the institute at industry meetings and events.
  8. Establish collaborations with internal and external partners to develop or improve technologies.
  9. Devise proposals to seek competitive funding.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
  1. PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or equivalent.
  2. Strong background in enzyme, chemical, biological engineering, and/or biotechnology.
  3. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  4. Rigorous data analysis, interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  6. Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask.
