United World College of South East Asia is seeking a passionate Environmental Sustainability Technician for a vibrant role at its Dover campus. The successful candidate will implement various biodiversity projects and work collaboratively with a diverse community of students and staff. This full-time position offers opportunities for both part-time applications and personal growth in environmental sustainability.
UWCSEA has a vacancy for anEnvironmental Sustainability Technician (1 Year Contract)at its Dover campus.
The successful applicant will enjoy implementing and managing a wide variety of biodiversity and sustainability projects with students and staff. They will be creative, adaptive, life-long learners keen to investigate and implement solutions. They will build community connections within and beyond UWCSEA with organisations such as NParks to help understand environmental issues in our community.
The successful applicant will report to the Head of Environmental Sustainability and work closely with other leaders and teachers across the campus.
This role is a full-time position, but we also welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time opportunities.
Support the ongoing development of the Green Heart (sustainability zones on campus) for teaching and learning
Create and lead transformational learning opportunities for students
Support sustainability projects on the campus
Maintain and upkeep campus biodiversity and ecosystem including caring for Campus community allotment gardens, and help to maintain healthy and thriving plants in the Green heart
Coordinate the use of Green Heart and facilities and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the curriculum around environmental sustainability
Help to prepare Environmental Sustainability teaching resources and equipment and outdoor learning spaces for sessions with students
Organise and maintain outdoor sustainability learning spaces (including Green Heart and Forest School) and their resources and schedules including maintenance, repair, pest management and irrigation system monitoring
Maintain a high level of safety standards in line with health and safety guidelines
Compile orders, manage deliveries, distribution and storage of materials for sustainability projects
Identify, track and report data connected to environmental sustainability projects
Pro-rata contribution to service, activities and outdoor education - given the nature of the role, it would be expected that the offerings in this will relate to sustainability
Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College.
Certificate / Diploma in related discipline is desirable
2 years of relevant experience in a practical environmental sustainability-related position is desirable
Passionate about environmental sustainability
Able to work outdoors and within physically demanding and dynamic operating systems
Motivated self-starter, curious, willing to learn, resourceful, assertive andable to work independently and flexibly
Enthusiasm for, and experience with, working with young people is essential.
Good interpersonal and communication skills - to work with people from diverse cultures effectively and respectfully
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Working knowledge of Mac platform and Google Suite
Contribute towards a positive working environment by working in a lively team
Able to work outdoors and within physically demanding and dynamic operating systems
