Environmental Molecular Biologist

In this role, you will:

  1. Design and execute laboratory and field-based experiments to understand microbial communities from the environment
  2. Optimise workflows leading to the generation of sequencing data and bioinformatics analysis
  3. Analyse experimental data and communicate findings to stakeholders through reports and presentations

Requirements

  1. Degree / Masters / PhD in Life Sciences / Molecular Biology / Molecular Biotechnology / Microbiology
  2. Proficient in nucleic acid extraction, purification, amplification, analysis and optimisation of protocols for challenging matrices
  3. Proficient user/operator of commonly used DNA sequencing techniques
  4. Willing to work in BSL3
  5. Willing to conduct outdoor field experiments
  6. Experience with common bioinformatics tools for analysing genomic and metagenomic datasets
  7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  8. Motivated with keen interest in research, able to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in environmental microbial detection
