Engineering Manager (Projects & Sustainability)

Summary

You will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The Engineering Manager is responsible to assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in ensuring Capex projects and green projects are completed within scope, time and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Position Grand Hyatt Singapore as the leading hotel by achieving the KPI targets set for HySat along with the financial & position KPIs.
2. Lead and manage project and sustainability implementation.
3. Coordinate and communicate engineering work activities with other departments concerning identification of repair and maintenance problems and requirements, satisfaction with work in progress and work completed.
4. Develop work plan prior to the intended execution of work, considering all possible disruptions that could cause inconvenience to guests and other operating departments, manpower and materials availability, in order to minimise adverse impact to the Hotel's operation.
5. Make frequent inspection tours to check and monitor work progress.
6. Ensure that all outside contractors and Team Members carry out their work in accordance with and in adherence to Hotel, local and regional health and safety at work criteria.
7. Assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in the management, organisation and control of all work assigned.
8. Assist in projects and sustainability developments. Propose, plan and execute Owner’s Capex projects and implementation of sustainability.
9. Perform normal duties and any other duties assigned by the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

Project Management:

1. Manage and implement the development of project work for Grand Hyatt Singapore.
2. Lead project planning, programming, monitoring and control of Projects.
3. Manage contractors, consultants, designers, architects, professional engineers and hotel operators to ensure project is completed on time and within budget.
4. Carry out cost plan studies, create bill of quantity and cost estimates.
5. Carry out tendering procedure and tender analysis to ensure contractors selected have the capability to complete the project on time and within budget.
6. Carry out contractual review of projects.
7. Carry out assessment and valuation of work completed and design variations.
8. Provide regular cost reporting, project updates and forecasting.
9. Assist various stakeholders during planning stage.
10. Manage Project budgeting and Project Closing.
11. Ensure Project deliverables are completed on time, within budget and accepted by the Stakeholder.
12. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

Sustainability / Green Projects / Innovation Management:

1. Develop and lead the implementation of sustainability strategy aligned with organisation and corporate goals.
2. Lead the preparation and execute the implementation on Net Zero Carbon, Zero Energy, ISO 14K, GSTC, Green Mark Certificates and any other green certificates.
3. Lead to achieve other green certificates aligned with organisation and corporate goals.
4. Lead and manage the project planning, programming, monitoring and control of Projects until closing.
5. Engage with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with internal teams and various stakeholders.
6. Manage consultants, contractors, vendors and external parties to ensure project is completed within scope, time and cost inclusive of attending meetings on-site.
7. Stay updated on environmental sustainability best practices / green technology.
8. Monitor progress and provide reports on the outcomes.
9. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

Note: Due to Singapore’s foreign worker work pass restrictions, only Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered for this position.

1. Ideally with an Engineering degree.
2. Minimum 3 years of Project Management experience.
3. Knowledge in innovation and sustainability industry, green certification, net zero carbon and zero energy. Candidate with certified green mark manager will be an advantage.
4. Innovative mindset to support the hotel innovation and sustainability team.
5. Strong Project Management Knowledge from initial to closing.
6. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, lead the projects and sustainability team and manage various stakeholders.
7. Able to work independently.
8. Results-driven individual capable of effective people management, quality control and projects delivery on-time within budget in a fast-paced environment.
9. Good set of skills such as cost planning, contract management, creative thinking, problem solving, administrative and interpersonal skills are a must.
10. Candidate with PMP will be an advantage.
