Job summary

PCI Private Limited is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for their Mechanical Commodity team, primarily based in Batam. The successful candidate will oversee supplier qualifications, lead engineering teams in the First Article approval process, and engage in technical communications with suppliers to ensure quality standards. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and extensive industry experience.

Job description

PCI Private Limited is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager, Mechanical Commodity to join our Engineering department. This position will be based in Batam.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the technical assessment and provide recommendation for mechanical, tooled part Suppliers (potential or new Suppliers) for transfer products as part of the Supplier selection process
  2. Overall in charge of the First Article (FA) approval process for mechanical, tooled parts for transfer products which includes drawing review, part qualification, component PPAP and completion of documentation as well as uploading in the system
  3. Will lead group of Engineers and Admin Staff in charge in charge of the First Article approval process
  4. To communicate directly with Suppliers in terms of technical matters and work closely with Commodity Specialist (CS), Product Engineering, Quality Team (IQC, QA and SQE) for any quality issues
  5. To participate in any Material Review Board (MRB) meeting for any mechanical part quality issue
  6. To visit Supplier and/or Customer when necessary
  7. Manage part development related to any new product transfer (NPI), provide recommendation and participate in Customer discussion related to mechanical parts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field of studies
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in the EMS (or similar) industry
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in mechanical part commodity such as metal, plastic
  • In-depth knowledge in sheet metal, plastic and aluminium extrusion and manufacturing processes
  • Experienced in tooling management - transfer from one supplier to another, tool life span, modification/repair and output qualification
  • Knowledge in costing evaluation, cost reduction and price negotiation is an added advantage
  • Experienced in managing people and has good leadership ability
  • Able to communicate well with any level of people in the organization; a Team player and leader
  • Willing to travel to visit Supplier and/or Customer
