Job summary

Airwallex in Singapore is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Issuing Platform. You will lead one or more teams that build core systems for card lifecycle, high-throughput processing, and dispute workflows, ensuring reliability and scalability.

You will stay technically credible while focusing on team health and delivery, partnering with product, operations, and other engineering leaders to improve observability, security and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience and 2+ years in people leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong backend development with Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed production systems.
• Solid CS fundamentals and OO design.
• Experience with event-driven/streaming architectures (Kafka).
• Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs at scale.
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS including Docker/Kubernetes.
• Familiar with observability tooling (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Mentor engineers and lead execution of technical/delivery strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own team health, execution, and long-term technical quality.
• Build engineering culture through coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, onboarding.
• Drive technical direction and architectural guidance for scalable systems.
• Improve system design, code quality, testing, reliability, observability, security, operational excellence.
• Partner with product, operations, senior engineers, and leaders to align with business priorities.
• Guide technology decisions balancing innovation, stability, productivity, cost.
