Job summary

Grab Singapore is seeking an Engineering Manager for Grab Financial Group to lead an engineering team building the Reconciliation and Settlement Platform for our fintech foundations. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and work onsite at Grab Singapore.

The role requires 8+ years of software engineering and 3+ years of team leadership, with hands-on Go and AWS experience, collaborating across Product, Finance and Operations to ensure reliability, security and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years managing teams of 5+ engineers.
• Hands-on experience with Go, microservices and cloud platforms such as AWS.

Responsibilities

• Set the team’s roadmap, planning cycles and OKRs with Product and business partners, translating priorities into measurable delivery outcomes.
• Build reusable reconciliation and settlement capabilities supporting multiple markets with security, accuracy, scalability and compliance.
• Guide architecture, design and code reviews — contribute code when needed to keep services secure and maintainable.
• Own production reliability through observability, service-level targets, incident response and on-call rotations.
• Improve the software development lifecycle by reducing technical debt and using GenAI tools responsibly while protecting data.
• Align Product, Finance, Operations and engineering on project objectives and success measures.
• Hire, coach and develop engineers and SETs, creating growth paths and a culture of ownership.

At Grab Financial Group (GrabFin), we're building the future of payments in Southeast Asia. As Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team. This team will work closely with other stakeholders in the organization, e.g., Product Managers, Business Lead, Operations. Together, they will solve the reconciliation and settlement platform problems at our core payment systems. Additionally, they will provide top‑notch platform capabilities to our users. You will have Payments and Finance domain knowledge, solid technical skills, strategic guidance, technical leadership and people skills.

Get to Know the Role

You will lead an engineering team consisting of software engineers and QAs (SET), responsible for designing, building, and operating our Reconciliation and Settlement Platform for our Fintech foundations. Our solutions are mission‑critical, operating 24/7 in some of the most dynamic and diverse markets in the world. Reliability, security, compliance, and speed are not optional – they are the baseline.

You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and work fully onsite at Grab Singapore office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will set the team’s roadmap, planning cycles and OKRs with Product and business partners, translating priorities into measurable delivery outcomes.
• You will build reusable reconciliation and settlement capabilities that support multiple markets without compromising security, accuracy, scalability or compliance.
• You will guide architecture, design and code reviews—and contribute code when needed—to keep services secure, testable and maintainable.
• You will own production reliability through observability, service‑level targets, incident improvement and mandatory participation in on‑call rotations.
• You will improve the software development lifecycle by reducing technical debt and using approved GenAI tools responsibly to accelerate development, testing and documentation while protecting sensitive data.
• You will align Product, Finance, Operations and engineering stakeholders on project objectives, delivery trade-offs and success measures.
• You will hire, coach and develop engineers and SETs, creating clear growth paths and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating scalable backend systems.
• At least 3 years managing teams of 5 or more engineers, with experience hiring, coaching and supporting performance and growth.
• Hands‑on experience with Go, microservices and cloud platforms such as AWS, including making architecture and code‑quality decisions.
• Experience with payments funds flows, including gateways or acquirers, reconciliation, clearing and settlement.
• Experience designing payment integrations or real‑time transaction systems with appropriate security controls, such as encryption or tokenization.
• Experience setting and improving operational standards for observability, service‑level targets, data governance and regulatory or financial reporting.
• You have experience engaging with AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, improve workflows, and contribute new ideas.
